Labels do not define you,
labels put us into boxes.
Whether they are labels of judgment or labels of disorders, they are unnecessary. They generalize groups of people and result in stereotypes and stigmas.
A prime example of this is the faded stigma on mental health, along with the heaviness of a mental health disorder diagnosis.
I have experienced this myself, and it was not until I rid myself of the label, depression and anxiety, that I felt the most free.
By holding onto a label, one is strengthening the believed trait within themselves. This happens in the brain where a circuit is becoming stronger and stronger, shaping the person's perception of self into something completely false.
In the world of Psychology and mental health, there is a need to classify each distressed person. This stems from the basic human tendency for a need to know. The need of knowing what is going on, good or bad, comforts an individual. This barricades fear of the unknown from coming into play.
This fear and unknowingness is crucial for self-transformation. Facing fears is key to flowing with the impermanence and divine timing of life itself. When one is uncomfortable, there is an opportunity to learn why and how they can grow from that feeling.
Do not fight the flow.
Fear is impermanent. Joy is impermanent. It is the journey of this life experience.
So, live through the mindset of this too shall pass because there is benefit and opportunity in all experience, whether good or bad. It is an individuals choice to see the good and to know nothing defines them other than their truth. You are whatever you want to be in this life.
