Breath to movement, Breath before movement.
“Self realization is the goal of true yoga practice.
Yoga outer practice deals with eliminating the ego.
Yoga inner practice deals with stilling our thoughts.”
(Heart of Yoga)
Breath connects the outer body to one’s inner presence. Thanks to Heart of Yoga, I have begun to integrate breath before movement within my yoga practice. Throughout the years, breath to movement has been a given within my practice. I learned this week, however, the power behind breath before movement and postures.
Breath prior to the start of a movement forces intention on moving at the pace of one’s breath. The pace of one’s breath is their true life energy that flows within. This small adjustment in practice teaches one to show patience before postures and to connect with true intuition of the body. One can feel the breath providing life energy to the body and feel empowered to move into each posture according to how their whole-being feels in that moment. Breath is a tool humans are gifted with to bring us into presence.
The present moment is an everlasting gateway to opportunity. This is one of many teachings of Yoga.
In all forms of life, no matter the practice, breath provides a way for us to reconnect with the moment, to approach each experience as new opportunity, and to see the abundance within each of us.
Breath is life.
As always,
Come As You Are.
With love,
Ra
